Solution:
Students should use the distributive and commutative properties of multiplication to expand each product.
4x(2y - 3)
= (4x)(2y) - (4x)(3) (distributive property)
= (4)(2)(x)(y) - (4)(3)(x) (commutative property)
= 8xy - 12x
