Redondo Beach is a beach city located in California's Los Angeles County. Redondo Beach is one of three beach cities in the county and is located in greater Los Angeles' South Bay region. Redondo Beach was originally inhabited by the Chowigna Indians and later part of the Rancho San Pedro Spanish land grant of 1785. Redondo Beach encompasses an area of 6.21 square miles, of which 0.01 square miles is water. The population is over 67,867 as of 2016. The inland portion of Redondo Beach is mainly residential while the ocean side has many dining establishments and opportunities for boating.

Redondo Beach is one of three beach cities in California's South Bay region. The other two are Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach.
Surfing is a popular activity at Redondo Beach all year long. During the winter storms waves can become dangerous but this makes it popular with surfers looking for high waves. In 2015 waves were recorded as high as 20 feet tall.
Redondo Beach is a popular place for playing beach volleyball because of its flat and wide sand beaches.
When looking at properties within walking distance of the ocean in Redondo Beach home buyers have to be prepared to pay upwards of $1 million.
Riviera Village is a popular shopping district with restaurants and boutiques and wine tasting opportunities.
Redondo Beach has a performing arts center considered to be a staple in South Bay. The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center hosts ballet performances, concerts, and even 3-D theatrical performances.
There is a 22 mile bike path called the Marvin Braude Bike Trail that is interrupted briefly by Redondo Beach's pier and marina. The trail extends along most of Los Angeles' west coastline.
Redondo Beach features the Seaside Lagoon. It is a summer month water park that includes a saltwater lagoon style swimming pool, picnic areas, beach volleyball areas, and waterslides.
Redondo Beach Marina harbors yachts and fishing boats to small personal watercraft. Visitors can hire fishing charters or take whale watching tours or grab a bite to eat at a restaurant.
The Redondo Beach Pier is a landmark in South Bay. It was originally built in 1889 but the current pier is the seventh generation pier. It is California coast's largest endless pier with 70,000 square feet of space. The pier has more than 50 retail, entertainment, and eating establishments.
The Redondo Beach Pier sits 25 feet above the ocean. There are constantly music events and concerts for visitors to attend on the pier.
Redondo Beach has a 1.5 mile stretch of sand beach. It is a more low key community than the other two beach communities that make up the three Beach Cities of South Bay.
South Bay Galleria is located in Redondo Beach and provides a place for visitors and residents to shop.
It is estimated that about two thirds of the children living in Redondo Beach live in the North Redondo Beach area.
Between the late 1800s and early 1920s there was a tourist attraction called Moonstone Beach where tourists would gather moonstones as they washed ashore.
