Compound and Complex Sentences

Compound sentence: Has two or more simple sentences (independent clauses) joined by and, but, or, or.
- On Thursday, Phillip will drive to the city or he will wait until next week.
- We went shopping at the mall and we had dinner at a restaurant.
Complex sentence: Has at least one independent clause and two or more dependent clauses.
- We were late because our connecting flight was delayed.
- After meeting his classmates, Thomas was certain he would enjoy his new school.
