Physical Science : Nature of Heat Quiz
Quiz
*Theme/Title:
Nature of Heat
* Description/Instructions
Heat is thermal energy that is transferred between two substances because of a temperature difference. Heat is thermal energy in transit. Thermal energy flows from substances with higher temperatures to substances with lower temperatures until thermal equilibrium is reached. Heat is a measurable quantity and can be calculated using mathematics. The First Law of Thermodynamics says that the energy of an isolated system is conserved. To change the system’s kinetic energy, or the average temperature of the substance’s molecules, energy must be transferred.
Heat has several units. For the SI system, the unit is a joule (J). In the British system, it is a BTU. In the English system, it s a calorie. This quiz covers the basics of heat. Use the above information to assist in answering the questions. Select the best answer from the choices.
