Grammar: Subject/Verb Agreement – Singular or Plural Quiz

15 questions
Quiz Overview

Description

The subjects and verbs in your sentences must agree in number. If the subject is plural, the verb must be plural. If the subject is singular, the verb must be singular. This is not hard when the sentence is a simple one, but there are traps created by more complex sentence structures.
Either and neither are singular, but if one of the elements connected with one of them is plural, and that element is closest to the verb, then they would be plural.
The number is singular. A number is plural.
Getting your subjects and verbs to agree can be tricky when they are separated by a lot of other words. The trick is to identify the subject and the verb first, then read the sentence without the extra words in order to decide if the subject is singular or plural. Choose the correct version of the following sentences.
