Atomic Theory : Atomic Theory III: The Quantum Mechanical Model Quiz
Quiz
*Theme/Title:
Atomic Theory III: The Quantum Mechanical Model
* Description/Instructions
By the mid-1920s, scientists had come to accept that the Bohr planetary model was incorrect. Research by Louis deBroglie, Werner Heisenberg and Erwin Schrodinger led to the currently accepted model of the atom, called the quantum mechanical model. This model was also able to incorporate Bohr's understanding of atomic energy levels. The QMM is a mathematical model, designed to find the probability of locating an electron within a volume of space surrounding the nucleus. This space is called an atomic orbital. Orbitals are described by quantum numbers. This quiz covers a basic understanding of atomic orbitals and quantum numbers. Select the best answer from the choices.
