A Christmas Carol Important Characters
Ebenezer Scrooge - protagonist in charge of a London counting-house who is visited by the ghost of his dead partner, Jacob Marley, followed by three more ghosts who convince him to change his stingy ways
Bob Cratchit - Scrooge's clerk who is underpaid and unappreciated but still tries to be happy with what he has, including his wife and children
Tiny Tim - Bob Cratchit's youngest son who is struggling to survive due to being crippled, using a cane, and surviving on meager food portions
Jacob Marley - former partner to Scrooge who also refused to share what he had and therefore must remain a ghost covered in chains due to his poor decisions. He visits Scrooge in the hopes of saving him from the same fate.
The Ghost Of Christmas Past - first of the three ghosts to visit Scrooge. This one has light which comes out of his head as it leads Scrooge through memories from his past.
The Ghost Of Christmas Present - second ghost to visit Scrooge. This one is gigantic and takes Scrooge through what would happen on Christmas that day.
The Ghost Of Christmas Yet To Come - third ghost to visit Scrooge. This one doesn't speak but shows Scrooge visions of his death and how people react to it.
Fred - Scrooge's nephew, who optimistically tells his wife and friends how he will continue to show kindness to his uncle even though he receives none in return
Fezziwig - a man under whom Scrooge served as an apprentice who was very generous and threw large parties for his employees
Fan - Scrooge's sister and Fred's mother who shows up at Scrooge's boarding school one Christmas to bring him home
The Portly Gentlemen - a man who comes to Scrooge's office looking for donations to the poor. Initially, Scrooge throws him out, but after his night with the ghosts, he runs into him on the street and offers him a huge sum of money.
