Reese Witherspoon is an American actress and producer who became famous in 2001 for her role as Elle Woods in the movie Legally Blonde. She was born Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon on March 22nd, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Mary Elizabeth Reese and Dr. John Draper Witherspoon. Due to her father working for the military Reese spent four years as a child in Weisbaden, Germany. When they returned she grew up in Nashville and did well in school. She attended Stanford for a year but decided instead to pursue acting. In 1991 Reese auditioned for a small role in The Man in the Moon and was cast instead as the lead, Dani Trent.
