Kate Winslet is an English actress that became famous for her roles in the movies Sense and Sensibility and Titanic. She was born Kate Elizabeth Winslet on October 5th, 1975, in Reading, Berkshire, England, to Roger John Winslet and Sally Anne Winslet. She has two sisters that are also actresses. Her father and mother were also actors and her maternal grandparents were theater managers. She began her career on stage and was cast in the TV series Dark Creatures in 1991. She made her film debut in Heavenly Creatures in 1994. She has gone on to win an Academy Award for her role in the film The Reader and several Golden Globes.
