Noun Phrases
Noun phrase-a noun or pronoun and any words in the sentence that modify that noun or pronoun
Example: the small child (child is the noun modified by "the" and "small")
my cousin's bike (bike is the noun modified by "cousin's" and "my")
a present for Mary (present is the noun modified by "a" and "for Mary")
A noun phrase can function as any other noun in a sentence: as a subject, direct object, indirect object, object of the preposition, or predicate nominative
