Croatia was originally part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1918, the Croats, Serbs, and Slovenes formed a kingdom which in 1929 became Yugoslavia. After World War II, Yugoslavia become a Communist state. Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1991, but it took four years of fighting to clear the occupying Serb armies. A majority of ethnic Serbs were also cleared. Croatia joined NATO in 2009 and will become a member of the EU in 2013. Please choose the correct answers to the following questions.
