The basic rules for naming and identifying ionic compounds are (1) cation is named first and (2) anion is named second, plus the suffix -ide. The charge on an ion is the number of electrons gained or lost, and the net charge of any ionic compound must be zero. This quiz is a review of ionic nomenclature.
