Algebra : Consecutive Even Integers Quiz

Quiz
*Theme/Title: Consecutive Even Integers
* Description/Instructions
Consecutive numbers are numbers which follow each other in a series, therefore, there is a difference of 1 between the numbers. In the case of consecutive even numbers, there is a difference of two between the integers and both integers must be multiples of two. The smaller of the two integers will be represented by 2x and the larger will be presented by 2x+2. This fulfills the requirement that both numbers are multiples of two and there is a difference of two between the numbers. A worked problem is shown below.

Determine the two consecutive integers whose sum equal 18.
smaller integer = 2x
larher integer = 2x+2

2x+2x+2 = 18
4x+2 = 18
4x+2-2 = 18-2
4x = 16
4x/4 = 16/4
x = 4

smaller integer is 2x, 2(4) = 8
larger integer is 2x+2 = 2(4)+2 = 10
