Adam Sandler is an American actor, comedian, producer, musician, and screenwriter, who became well-known while working on Saturday Night Live as a cast member. He was born Adam Richard Sandler on September 9th, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, to Judith and Stanley Sandler. He is Jewish and often makes mention of this in his work. His family moved to Manchester, New Hampshire when he was 6 and in high school he belonged to a Jewish youth group called BBYO. He attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and graduated in 1988. He had a role on The Cosby Show as Smitty and was later seen by comedian Dennis Miller who recommended him to Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels.
