Comforter vs. Duvet

Comforter vs. Duvet

A comforter (noun) is a bed quilt, often preferred for its design. It is the decorative top cover to a bed.

A duvet (noun) is a bed quilt with a removable cover. People will prefer a duvet because it can be changed without purchasing a new comforter. A duvet has a zipper or buttons on the end. By opening them, you can slide the duvet out of its cover so that you can wash it or find a new decorative cover.

Examples:

1. "I thought about purchasing a new comforter for my bed, but a duvet is more economical."

2. "I'm tired of having to take my comforter to the dry cleaner to be laundered, so I'm purchasing a duvet instead."
